EDA controls fate of the old Colonial School

The old Colonial Elementary School is in the hands of the Economic Development Authority

The fate of the old Colonial Elementary School building would become the problem of the Botetourt County Economic Development Authority after the county school system returns the property to the county, the Board of Supervisors learned at its February 22, 2022 meeting.

John Lanford, Assistant County Administrator, told the Supervisors that the fate of the structure would be left up to the EDA, which may sell the structure or adapt it for a different use.

Lanford said the county was aware that Blue Ridge residents were interested in using the building as a community center and that would be taken into consideration.
