Old Colonial School to become a private Christian School

The old Colonial School constructed in the late 1930s, has taken on a new life. The old school located on Webster Rd in Blue Ridge, was sold to the Six Forty Corp back in June by the Economic Development Authority for $10 and a promise of refusal should the group ever decide to sell and not have a buyer. The Six Forty plans to operate a private K-12 school using Christian world view curriculm.

Botetourt County gave the school to the EDA to handle after the new Colonial Elementary School opened. In order to become a Christian School, the school building needed a Special Exception Permit (SEP) to operate in a residential neighborhood.

The Board of Supervisors held a public hearing Tuesday night to consider the matter. Six Forty is in process of raising $500,000 to open the school by Fall of 2024. After two speakers spoke in favor of the new use, the Supervisors led by Blue Ridge Rep Billy Martin, voted unanimously to approve the SEP.
