Covid-19 vaccinations and Covid-19 panel this week

How To End the Pandemic | A COVID 19 Panel

We all wish it was in the past, but it isn’t. Let’s get on the same page to get through this.

By Alex Watkins, RCAHD Community Health Engagement Coordinator

Last week I was in a virtual meeting and one of the participants talked about the pandemic in the past-tense. She seemed to be coming from a mindset that assumed the pandemic was over. As someone who spends all day looking at cases, transmission rates, and sadly, deaths, I can say the pandemic is very much in the present.

And we are all so tired of it.

We are tired of worrying, of trying to keep up with “The Rules,” and having to skip out on things that we love. The reality is that COVID-19 is not going away any time soon. It is up to each one of us to continue to do what we can to protect ourselves, and our loved ones. By making those changes, we can make this situation better.

So this is the time to show up, or dial in to this informational event. Bring a friend, co-worker, or family member who could benefit. Share with the folks you know who are struggling with misinformation, and who may be overwhelmed. We will provide up-to-date information on COVID-19, and the ways we can get out of this pandemic mess. Topics include COVD-19, local community spread and variants, vaccine safety and efficacy, and how to keep safe over the holidays.

There will be time for Q&A, so come with questions!

Speakers to include :

Dr. Cynthia Morrow, Director of the Roanoke City & Alleghany Health Districts

Dr. Molly O’Dell, retired Director of the Roanoke City & Alleghany Health Districts (and Botetourt resident!)

Nicki McCain, Nurse Epidemiologist

And the whole Community Health Outreach team!

We will be at the Botetourt YMCA the next day, Fri 11/29 from 4-6pm with all three vaccines for 1st, 2nd, 3rd shots and boosters. We also have a few pediatric doses available for kids 5-11yr old. Schedule those appointments here! https://www.vdh.virginia.gov/roanoke/botetourt-family-ymca-november-19-from-4-6pm/
