Rocky Forge Wind Energy offers community grants

Rocky Forge Wind Launches Community Grant in Botetourt County

Rocky Forge plans over 20 wind turbines on North Mountain in Botetourt County. The project is called Rocky Forge Wind Farm and is part of Apex Clean Energy out of Charlottesville. The final permits have been secured and the project is set to move forward after the last Board of Supervisors report on Dec. 22. The following is a a grant progra started by Rocky Forge to beneit Botetourt and the surrounding areas.


Charlottesville, VA –December 18, 2020 –Rocky Forge Wind is currently accepting applications for its new community grant program.
Rocky Forge Wind has committed to donating $10,000 to local charitable causes in the coming six months. Funds will help support organizations and projects related to community development, environment, education, health and recreation that benefit Botetourt County and the surrounding area.
Half of these funds will be allocated in February 2021, and half will be awarded in April

Charlie Johnson, Senior Development Manager with Apex Clean Energy said, “We are excited to begin this program and continue our work within Botetourt County and the surrounding region. Once built, Rocky Forge Wind will be a great addition to the area, and we want to do our part to contribute to the community, especially in this difficult time.”

About Rocky Forge Wind
Rocky Forge Wind is a 75 MW wind project in Botetourt County under development by Virginia-based company Apex Clean Energy. Rocky Forge Wind will generate enough renewable energy to power over 21,000 homes. Rocky Forge Wind will provide $20 million to $25 million in state and county tax revenue over the life of the project. In addition, this
wind project will add up to 250 FTE jobs and significant local spending during construction.
