County to Staff Blue Ridge Rescue Squad approved over $200,000 to begin funding positions

Botetourt County will hire seven full-time emergency service workers to assist in Blue Ridge because of the dissolution of the Blue Ridge Rescue Squad. The Board of Supervisors approved an appropriation of $201,366 at the December 2020 meeting to finalize the positions.

The new recruits will attend the Fire & EMS Academy for training and staffing before reporting to duty in Blue Ridge.

The total cost of the full-time emergency service workers in Blue Ridge will be $349,366.00 for this fiscal year.
