LBHS basketball player Tanner Selkirk signs with Southeastern on Nov. 18

Lord Botetourt Basketball player Tanner Selkirk will sign an intent to play at Southeastern University on November 18 in front of his peers, family and friends at Lord Botetourt.

Selkirk has enjoyed a full career at Lord Botetourt. He has a GPA of 4.25 as well

Here are some other interesting facts about him

He currently plays for Virginia Premier out of Northern Virginia.    All of the players on Virginia Premier have college offers.   He played for Boo Williams (Suffolk) and made their top team which competed on the Nike EYBL Circuit (Elite Youth Basketball League).  He also played for one of Boo’s teams in Lynchburg.  Tanner was contacted by a couple of Division 1 teams, including Army West Point.   He also had interest from Division 2 and numerous offers from Division 3 schools.  He was offered roster spots by a bunch of ODAC schools in Virginia.  He chose Southeastern University as it gave him an opportunity to grow as a student, as young man, as a player and as a Christian.   He felt like Coach Lubbers, at Southeastern, was very genuine.

Selkirk ’s involved in Fellowship of Christian Athletes, National Honor Society and the Spanish Club.  His role model is a family friend Luke Hancock, who played for Louisville and was the Most Outstanding Player when Louisville won the 2013 National Championship.   Hancock helped create Tanner Selkirk’s love for basketball and that’s why Tanner chooses to wear Luke’s number, 11.

Because of his mentor relationship with Hancock, Selkirk also enjoys working with younger players who love the game.

May congraulaations to Tanner Selkirk!
