Dewease is new Director of Operations for BCPS

FINCASTLE, Va. — Starting July 1, 2021, Mr. Andy Dewease will transition to his new role
as Director of Operations for Botetourt County Public Schools. He was most recently the
principal of Lord Botetourt High School, where he has worked as a teacher, coach, and
administrator since August 1997.
Mr. Dewease earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History/Social Sciences from Emory and
Henry College. He began his career at Lord Botetourt High School in 1997 where he taught in
the social studies department and coached football and baseball. He earned a Master of Science
degree in Educational Leadership from Radford University, at which point he transitioned from
the classroom to administration in 2010. He worked as an Assistant Principal until 2015, and has
been the Principal of Lord Botetourt High School since that time.
Throughout his career, Mr. Dewease has been a great support to students and their families,
faculty and staff, and the Botetourt community. In his new role as Director of Operations he will
continue to have a tremendous impact on the students, staff, facilities, and learning that happens
throughout Botetourt County Schools. Andy and his wife Salena currently reside in Botetourt
County with their children and are excited for this next chapter of their life.
