Drug Take Back Day is Oct. 27 at Botetourt Commons

A drug-take-back day will take place on Saturday, October 27 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. No appointment is necessary. Simply bring medications (no needles, please) to the event where the drugs will be safely collected and then destroyed by local law enforcement and DEA agents. In Botetourt County, you can turn in unused or expired medications for safe disposal at Kroger in Daleville.

Other locations include CVS stores at Towers Mall, Valley View Target, and 9th Street SE; Super Shoes in Salem, Market Street Pharmacy in Craig County, Kroger at Tanglewood Mall, Valley Gateway Blvd., and Hardy Road (Vinton), and Walgreens at Electric & Brambleton and the Hershberger Road Fire & Rescue #1. Visit http://www.dea.gove for additional drug disposal sites. This event is sponsored by the Roanoke Area Youth Substance Abuse Coalition, Western Virginia Water Authority, U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, Prevention Council of Roanoke County, local police and sheriff departments, Roanoke Valley Academy of Medicine, and the U.S. Attorney’s Office Western District of Virginia.
