Meet Rich Evans Botetourt County’s new Manager for Capital Projects

Richard (Rich) Evans is the new Capital Projects Manager in Botetourt County Government. He started work on Jan. 2, 2024. He is a graduate of ODU in Mechinical Engineering and is a US Navy Veteran. He has a PMP certification which means Project Management Professional. Evans has been senior project manager for several private companies including Virginia Transformer and Varney over the past 15 years.

He hit the ground running. The courthouse project is getting rolling again, negotiations are underway but the contract hasn’t been completed. But look for it to be sooner rather than later.

“The courthouse house will be in two phases. Phase A will be moving documents and moving the oldlawyer’s office and hotel and Phase B will be the tearing down and rebuilding of the new courthouse,'” he said.Evans says he is adept at keeping projects on time and budget through his experience. It will be a major project of several years to complete the new courthouse.

He will have many tasks associated with capital projects, but he is up for the task!

Evans and hsi wife have 2 grown children and reside in Roanoke Counnty.
