Botetourt Family YMCA presentation highlighted programs

Executive Director Rob Lough of the Botetourt Family YMCA gave a presentation to the Board of Supervisors at the February 28, 2023 meeting at the Botetourt County Administration Center in Amsterdam.

The Botetourt Family YMCA provides premium health and wellness space, an eight-lane lap pool, a warm-water recreation and therapy pool, three group exercise studios, a gymnasium, a modern lobby with social gathering spaces and space for kids and teens to learn and play.

Among the highlights of the presentation, Lough noted that the YMCA has an Early Learning Center for youth and the facility served 268 young people in summer camp last year. There is also a special needs playground on site.

Additionally, both high schools utilize the pool for swim teams, and books can be picked up from the Botetourt County Library system at the YMCA facility.

He also noted a variety of senior activities, including pickleball.

The YMCA employs over 100 people, Lough said.
