Kim’s Cavaliers strive to help local family cope with Cancer during this Christmas Season

Tis the season for joy and giving. Maybe you can spread some love to thisBotetourt family.

Kim Saunders Wyrick had breast cancer in 2013. I wrote a story about her that published on Roanoke.com in December of that year. She is long time law enforcement with Botetourt County and previously Roanoke City. Together we did a ride along with the Sheriff’s Dept ( and Matt Ward, too) back in the early 2000s.

She is a single mother to her 14 year old son. She is a beloved daughter to her mother Deborah Simmons Wiley and very much so as well to her her step dad and the rest of her family. All of those things make the recurrance of her cancer a truly unfortunate event. The battle against her Cancer is ongoing and fraught with nausea and the associations of the treatments.

Yet, she is still working, and just hosted a youth group event for her son. Kim is a fighter and a strong woman.

Friends have banded together to help her as she goes through the next months of treatment. An avid fan of the University of Virginia, her friends chose the name, ” Kim’s Cavaliers.”

First there is a go fund me page.

When you think of the true meaning of Christmas which is the greatest gift to humanity in the birth of a Jesus, consider the many who will not have a merry and bright Christmas. Think, pray for and help this family in a battle against Cancer that is a frightening, expensive, and a painful disease with an uncertain outcome.

In the Spirit of the Season, make this Christmas a little bit happier for Kim and her loved ones.
