Treasurer of Botetourt will be on ballot in Nov.

Voters will have an opportunity to cast a ballot for a new treasurer in this November’s election.

William “Bill” Arney, served as Botetourt County Treasurer for 11 years before retiring recently to move to Richmond. Arney’s term was to run until December 31, 2023.

Deputy Clerk Donna Boothe, who has worked in the Treasurer’s Office for 27 years, has taken over as Treasurer in the interim.

Boothe has said she would run for the office in the special election on November 8 of this year to fulfill Arney’s remaining term. Candidates have until mid-August to file paperwork to run for the position. The seat would also be up for election next year for a four-year term.

Anyone interested in running for Treasurer should check with the Botetourt County Registrar for more information.
