County Surplus auction includes the Bookmobile!

Botetourt County Surplus Sale Fincastle, Virginia Friday, August 20, 2021 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 pm Saturday, August 21, 2021 8:00 a.m. to Noon

Surplus Items are offered in three (3) buildings: 1) Circuit Courthouse Basement, 1 W. Main Street (front entrance only) 2) Old District Court Building, 5 W. Main Street (front entrance only) 3) Former Public Works Office, 30 W Back Street Vehicles are located in the parking lot beside of the Eastern Star/Catawba Lodge at 14 Academy Street, Fincastle County Staff are posted inside and outside at each building to direct you through the buildings to view the items for sale. (A library employee noted the Bookmobile is among the vehicles.)

 Follow the directional arrows to visit rooms with items, travel at your leisure. If you have any questions, please ask! Items are clearly marked and will match to the Item Number as listed on the Bid Form. You should bid the dollar amount you are committed to pay for any item of interest on the appropriate line. All property is offered for sale ‘AS IS; WHERE IS’.

 Botetourt County makes no warranty, guaranty, or representation of any kind, expressed or implied, as to the merchantability or fitness for any purpose of the property offered for sale. BIDDING Pick up a BID FORM, one for each building of items. COMPLETE your personal information at the top. Fill out your BID amount for any item you are interested in. SIGN the Bid Form appropriately. PLACE in the provided BID BOX as you leave the building. No bids will be accepted after 12-Noon on Saturday.

Bids will be reviewed, and items awarded to the HIGHEST bidder. Notification calls will be made on the Monday/Tuesday after the sale. Payment must be made prior to pick up, at the County Treasurer’s office located at the Administration Building, 57 S.. Center Drive, Daleville, VA (Greenfield).

Give your name, and that office will have your Award Ticket List of the items won and the payment amount due. PICK UP of items MUST be scheduled for Wednesday/Thursday/Friday; August 25, 26, 27 the week after the sale. You should make tentative plans for pick up on those days should you win any of your bid items. Pick-up appointments will be set during the call with County Staff when they notify you of items won.

Bidders have full responsibility of removing and hauling away items. The County Staff can offer no assistance. This surplus sale is being conducted in accordance with the Code of Virginia 15.2-951 and 2.2-1124 and the guidelines set forth by the Virginia Department of General Services, these procedures are created for the purpose of identifying, documenting, and disposing of the County’s surplus property. Surplus property is defined as any materials, supplies, or equipment purchased by the Botetourt County Board of Supervisors for use by County officials and employees that is in excess of need, no longer in use, broken/outdated/or, disabled in some way and not serving a functional purpose
