McKenzie Byers Memorial Scholarship awarded to Kirsten Leavens

Kenzie Beyers’ family and friends are pleased to announce that Kirsten Leavens has been selected to receive the Mackenzie Renee Beyers Memorial Scholarship Fund.

Kirsten is the daughter of April D. Balser. Kirsten will graduate from Lord Botetourt High School in May 2021. She attended Botetourt Technical Educational Center where she became a Certified Nursing Assistant. Kirsten will be attending Dabney S. Lancaster Community College in the fall where she will be enrolled in their Nursing Program. 

Kenzie and Kirsten became friends at Colonial Elementary and continued their friendship through Read Mountain Middle School and LBHS. They played softball together through the Blue Ridge Booster Club.Kirsten will help to continue Kenzie’s legacy by caring for others as a nurse.
