Photo: Julie Baker receives James T. Micklem Award

Julie Baker who is the Director of Special Education for Botetourt County Public Schools was awarded the James T. Macklem Award for Education Excellence at the Oct. 8 School Board meeting. Baker was honored by VCASE and presented the award by Roanoke City representative, Hailey Roland.

Not only did she receive the award, she was lauded on a broadcast Zoom by other members of VCASE as being the “go to” and often many divisions use Baker’s diligent plans for their own schools.

In addition, Baker received a $500 check.
