Blue Ridge Behavioral Healthcare Offers Talk Saves Lives Presentation through Teleconference You don’t have to be an expert to know how to help. During this difficult time in our world, it is important to reach out to others and offer hope.

Many people are dealing with increased stress, anxiety, and depressive symptoms. They may be struggling with thoughts of suicide. Do you know what to say or how to help? On April 21, 2020 at 4 p.m. Blue Ridge Behavioral Healthcare and the Suicide Prevention Council of Roanoke Valley will be offering a FREE online presentation called Talk Saves Lives.

The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention sponsors this free community-based presentation that covers the general scope of suicide, the research on prevention, and what people can do to fight suicide.

Suicide is the second leading cause of death among 10 to 24-year-olds and it is estimated that 48,344 Americans died by suicide in 2018. Suicide can be prevented. This presentation will cover what we know about this leading cause of death, the most up-to-date research on prevention, and what we can all do to fight suicide. Participants will learn the common risk factors for suicide, how to spot the warning signs in others, and how to keep ourselves, our loved ones and those in our community safe.
