Beware the door-to-door salesman

A word to the wise, don’t buy anything like asphalt, roof painting and anything from unsolicited door-to-door sales. Desperate times and spring of the year have a tendency to bring out Travelers- a group not unknown to do this on a semi regular basis. Now, they know that plenty of people are at home : Let the Buyer Beware!

Lt. Jeff Stritesky of the Botetourt County Sheriff’s Dept. had this to say, ” The Sheriff’s Dept issues a permit for salesmen to go door to door. We have not issued a permit in a while. There has been a report, so be careful. No one should be within 6 feet of you, anyway. These people are motivated by greed and often come in pairs.”

He continued, “In the past we have had one person distract while another slips in the house to commit robbery. Check on your elderly friends, make them aware of this and do keep your doors locked while you are at home. Otherwise, it is a reasonably quiet Friday in Botetourt County.”
