James River Band updates competition season and Spaghetti Dinner this Friday

James River Marching Knights have participated in three competitions so far this fall. Saturday they did very well at The Cavalier Classic at Lord Botetourt High School.Their competiton program theme is “Time after Time.”

Marching Knights results from Cavalier Classic: 1st place Drum Major, 1st place Marching, 1st place General Effect, 1st color guard , 2nd Place Music, 2nd Percussion! 1st Overall!

In the previous two competitions, they also did very well: Glenvar High School 9/21 VMBC Blue Ridge Regional Colorguard 2nd place Percussion 1st place Visual 2nd place General Effect 1st place Music 1st place Overall 2nd place (missed first by .18 of a point!)

Results from last weekend’s George Wythe competition Drum major-2nd place Color guard-3rd place Percussion-2nd place Marching-1st place Music-2nd place Overall-2nd place Superior rating. Mr. English, the band director was honored by the George Wythe Band with the 2019 Dale Hedrick Leadership Award.

The Marching Knights Band Boosters are holding a Spaghetti Dinner this Friday night prior to the game for a fundraiser. The dinners are $10. They include spaghetti, salad, garlic bread, dessert and drink. Dine in or carry out. Gluten free option available. Tickets available from Mr. English, at the school or through band boosters. Also available for $1 are music notes of encouragement to be placed in the Band Room. A great way to show these young performers your support!
