Will Stowell for Sheriff gives his platform prior to Nov. 5

Will Stowell is running for Sheriff.

Will Stowell is a candidate for Sheriff of Botetourt County. He is running as an Independent. He makes no excuses that he has a past that includes DUIs and a felony conviction. He also has shown The Botetourt Bee that according to state code he can carry a firearm if elected. The code makes exception to law enforcement that might be convicted felons.

Stowell said he is trying to lessen the police state and arrests for minor things as he sees them.

A little background on Stowell. He has a Bachelors and Masters degree. He worked on a degree while in jail for his DUI. He operates teller machines as his livelihood and he also has a YouTube channel called “Fincastle Underground.” It has many of his beliefs and they are spread around the world. In his spare time, he canvases the court house and gives out lighters with his information printed on them to those emerging from a trip through the court system.

He said, “I only found 800 arrests last year in Botetourt County, but the county budget says there are 2,400 per year. I think funding is something that should be looked at in the future.” He has researched many things he said in his run for sheriff. “I am for the people. They have constitutional rights. A sheriff is a constitutional officer. I would not enforce every law because I am to honor your constitutional rights.” For instance, he is totally against enforcing the new smoking age passed by The General Assembly last session. He believes a person over the age of 18 can vote, so they should be able to smoke.

Therein is his campaign platform video on Drug Reform. Recently one morning at Hollins University he filmed himself talking about Drug Reform in Botetourt County to a number of followers. Stowell calls it a constitutional and evidenced based plan.

“I have a platform and it is about things that people should care about, like their constitutional rights,” he stated. Stowell has spoken to many people in the area and he thinks he will win the election which is Nov. 5. The other two candidates are Republican Matt Ward and Daniel Crouse, also an Independent.

Go to his YouTube Channel if you are interested and watch this key part of the platform he has put up for viewing. It is 55 minutes long. There are other videos on his channel that also deal with his quest to become Sheriff.
