Fire Prevention Week is Oct. 6- 13

The week of October 6-12 is Fire Prevention Week in Botetourt County.

The proclamation passed by the Board of Supervisors at its September 24 meeting states that there are more 2,630 deaths by fire annually, and some 357,000 house fires.

The proclamation urges people to have an escape plan in place, which should be practiced and understood by all members of the household.

The theme for 2019 Fire Prevention Week is “Not every hero wears a cape, plan and practice your escape!”
