Robyn Whittaker Flint

From Sin to Sacrifice by Robyn Flint a new memoir, details a young adult Robyn Whittaker when she became pregnant before she was married. In the end, she gave the baby, a boy, up for adoption, broke-up with her fiance whom she had dated four years and began her life all over again.

The book is the story of her meeting her husband of over 27 years, Steve Flint two weeks after the break-up and marrying him almost three years later. They have two sons Matt Flint and Dylan Flint who graduated from James River High School are now in the Marines and Navy.

And a miracle. Her first born son, reconnects with her after his freshman year at Virginia Tech. Her other boys were 12 and 10 at the time.

Flint is a local realtor, but also a counselor, mother and now a grandmother to her first son Andrew’s two children.

The story covers her years of sadness and guilt over giving her son up. Though a closed private adoption, she wrote a letter to adoptive services in case he ever wanted to find her. The miracle came when his adoptive parents gave him the letter she wrote at Christmas. That happened during his Freshman year at VA Tech. The following summer he began the search and ultimate a reunion with her. “I am involved in his life. I just had dinner a couple of weeks ago with his parents. Steve and I are grandparents with them and we have two beautiful grandchildren.”

Her two Flint sons get along well with their brother Kevin.

Not to give away the whole story, the journey has been a process. The book ends on kind of a cliff hanger. “Even Steve says, Hurry up and finish the second one, I want to hear what happens,” she said with a laugh. She hopes the second book will be out in about 6 months. It is called, From the Moment We Met.
