Scholarships awarded to Botetourt students

Many Roanoke Valley students includig LBHS and JRHS students received scholarships.

Community Foundation Serving Western Virginia announced it has awarded $180,000 in educational scholarships during its annual scholarship dinner, held at The Hotel Roanoke and Conference Center on May 9.

            The Foundation administers over 60 endowed scholarship funds, and it received over a thousand applications for scholarships this year.  Recipients were selected on a competitive basis using criteria established by donors at the creation of the scholarship endowment.

The following students from Botetourt County received scholarships:

Lord Botetourt

Jenna Alam – Christi Crutchfield Memorial Scholarship Fund, Michael Dean Guilliams Memorial Scholarship Fund, and The Bettie Nichols Guthrie Scholarship Fund

Jacob Dewease – Lenna E. Etzler Scholarship Fund

James River

Ethan Whitt – The Bettie Nichols Guthrie Scholarship Fund

River Clonch – The Louise and Sam McGhee Scholarship Fund

Bailey Marshall – The Louise and Sam McGhee Scholarship Fund, Frank W. (Bo) Rogers Scholarship Fund, and the Michael David Scott Memorial Scholarship Fund in Honor of the JRHS Class of 2000
