LOVE comes to Troutville Park

Over in Troutville a new something popped up at the Troutville Park. “Yes it’s the LOVE artworks that have been popping up in different cities and towns all over Virginia.” said, Lee Minnix of the Troutville Sunshine Girls who are at it again.

It is part of the Virginia is for Lovers tourism campaign. Said Minnix. “You may I’m sure have seen Salem’s and Vinton’s We now how a children’s size version for Troutville.
I thought it’s about time we had one in Botetourt County.”  She continued.

Raymond Whitlock who’s a very cleaver, creative and talented Troutville man has built several things in the town park in the past.  “Together he and I designed it and he built it in a day,” said Minnix.
The Hockey stick was donated from the Roanoke Railyard Dawgs hockey team. The rest of the items Whitlock had on hand.  It is kid friendly with a sports theme and built to a child’s size.  The E was the hardest to create and Whitlock actually had a antique gold club cart which he did a little turning of the handles and made a E!   It is a very heavy structure on a solid base and secured into the ground.

It’s a permanent fixture for the park and loads of kids will explore it. And, what a great photo op for a visit to the park. It was installed Labor Day weekend. So go take the kids and enjoy the newest feature at Troutville Park. Minnix said, “We installed it and immediately people were taking pictures posing next to it.”
