School Repairs topped Capitol Improvement Fund ask of BOS

New Projects Approved for Schools

The Board of Supervisors at its March 23 meeting agreed to allow the school to utilize some of the School Capital Reserve Funds for two HVAC control system replacements and a gymnasium roof replacement.

Eagle Rock Elementary School is functioning off of a 40-year old HVAC system, school officials told the Board members. They can no longer obtain replacement parts for the system. A new system is estimated to cost $56,856.

A similar situation exists at the county school board office. A new system there will cost $24,087.

At Central Academy Middle School, buckets catch the rainwater as it falls through the roof of the gym, school officials said. Replacement of the gym roof is estimated at $47,000.

The Board unanimously approved the use of the School Capital Reserve Fund, which had a balance of $1.7 million, to fix these issues.
