Read Mountain Middle School Students particpating in “Hunger Games” Food Drive

The Student Leadership Council (SLC) is sponsoring a Hunger Games Food Drive at RMMS.

Beginning Monday, November 30-Wednesday, December 14, Read Mountain students will be participating in the “Hunger Games Food Drive” to stock the shelves at the Botetourt Food Pantry in Fincastle. “One in Eight Botetourt residents has food insecurity,” according to Catey Moretz, English teacher and SCL sponsor.
The Grade levels are divided into Districts like those in the namesake book series, “The Hunger Games.” Students are asked to donate what they can. Remote and in-person students can participate.

Grade levels and classes will be competing against each other to win a Chick-Fil-A biscuit breakfast (we were able to get a discount from the Bonsack Chick-Fil-A),

Teachers and staff can win coupons to wear jeans for donating, There will be dress-up days scheduled to get in the spirit of the Hunger Games. Something that makes this unique is the opportunity for both remote and in-person students to participate.
