JRHS FFA given Kudos at BOS meeting

James River High School FFA has received the highest ratings possible in state and national FFA.  Jack Leffel, chairman of the Board of Supervisors read a proclamation in congratulations for the JR FFA and their recognitions on the two levels. He presented a plaque to the FFA to be  kept at the school. The FFA team was joined by Superintendent John Busher.

Represented by 3 student members and sponsor Zach Wakeman the students presented a day of service re-count from earlier in the fall. Day of Service brings students out to help in their communities for one day. JRHS covered their school district including Eagle Rock, Buchanan and Fincastle.

Pertinent Facts.

They will do this again in May 2019 They have challenged Lord Botetourt and Central Academy to join them.

They served 12 sites

58% of the student body participated, over 300 students, plus staff and faculty

1428 hours of combined volunteer service was donated to the communities

The economic value of service equaled $38,199.00
