Scothorn and White are Chairman and Vice Chairman of Supervisors
Valley District Supervisor Mac Scothorn was named chair of the Botetourt County Board of Supervisors during the January 24, 2023 meeting. The meeting was held at the Botetourt County Administration Center at Greenfield in Amsterdam.
Amy White, who represents the Buchanan District, was named Vice Chair.
The Board will continue to meet on the 4th Tuesday of every month at 2 p.m., except for December, when the Board will meet on December 19 because of the holidays.
The Board also adopted its by-laws, which allows members to participate virtually. Amsterdam Supervisor Steve Clinton participated virtually during the January meeting.
The Supervisors also made numerous committee appointments. Clinton and outgoing chair Richard Bailey, who represents the Fincastle District, will serve on the General Fund Budget Subcommittee, while White and Billy Martin, who represents the Blue Ridge District, will serve on the School Budget Committee.
The Supervisors also appointed Tim Snyder as the new Planning Commissioner for the Amsterdam District. Snyder grew up on a dairy farm in Botetourt County and currently works with computers.
