Masks policy changes at BCPS to reflect CDC guidelines

Botetourt County Public Schools Changes Masking Policies
Following CDC Updated Guidelines
FINCASTLE, Va. —
The federal Centers for Disease Control (CDC) announced important changes on Friday,
February 25 that significantly impact public school divisions. Botetourt County Schools will
implement the following updated masking policies, effective Monday, February 28:

1. Masks will be optional for all staff/employees, and
2. Masks will be optional for students while accessing division transportation.
   Though no longer required, staff and students may choose to continue to wear masks while at school or on division transportation. Botetourt County continues to experience a steady decline in positive COVID cases, and we are confident the county will soon be categorized as a ‘low’ community level area. The division will continue to monitor data from the CDC and Virginia Department of Health when making decisions impacting staff and student health.
