Susan Fain to retire after 40 years of service

Botetourt County Announces Retirement

 Date: October 26, 2021  (Botetourt County, VA) – After forty-one and a half years of dedicated service, a familiar face in the Botetourt County Administrators Office will be retiring. 

Ms. Susan Fain has announced her retirement effective December 31, 2021.  Ms. Fain has been a fixture in the Botetourt County Governmental Offices for over four decades.  If you have visited the County Administrator’s Office or attended the Board of Supervisors Meetings, then you have seen her diligently working.  She is truly the glue that holds the office together and  she has served the citizens, visitors, and staff of Botetourt County with professionalism, dignity, and respect.

Susan was born and raised in Botetourt County and is a graduate of James River High School.  She started her journey with the county on June 18, 1980.  During her tenure, she has served with countless Board of Supervisors, five County Administrators and has seen the County grow and prosper. 

“A wealth of knowledge will be leaving us when Susan retires”, says Botetourt County Board of Supervisors Chair Dr. Mac Scothorn. “Susan has been a devoted member of our Botetourt County family and her seat will be hard to fill.  We wish her well as she embarks on the well-earned journey of retirement.”

“Susan has always been a professional to work with and is the heartbeat of our organization”, says County Administrator Gary Larrowe. “She has dedicated her career to the county and for that I couldn’t be more grateful.  She will be deeply missed by all those that work with her each day, and we want her to know that she will always be a part of our Botetourt County family.”

Please join us in celebrating Susan until she officially retires on December 31, 2021.  Congratulations to Ms. Fain is well deserved.  Events to show gratitude are being planned through the end of the year.
