Brughs Mill Exxon to celebrate 20 years on Feb. 1

Brughs Mill Exxon is celebrating a 20 yearAnniversary on Feb. 1. The brain child of Jack Rader was the result of son David Rader wanting to return to Botetourt from Richmond. Jack Rader said, “This was to get him back here and took several years to get the store built. HDavid married and started a family. He couldn’t just work the farm.”

David said, “My Dad stood on the ridge above the hayfield and had a vision of a store there.” The store opened in 2001. David and his wife Penny, took over ownership of the business 6 years ago. One of the things they pride themselves on is the repeat business they get off the interstate. Jack said, ” We have always had clean bathrooms. People don’t forget that.” The community buys loads of food from the deli, including the best chicken around, ice cream and patronize not only the gas pumps, but the gift shop.

Laura Lee Spence a valued employee of 16 years is handling the celebration. “On Feb 1st, we will have free foods from our vendors including free coffee and honeybuns in the morning, coffee all day and free luncheon items. The Virginia Lottery gave t-shirts and there will be some give aways.

The store is open from 6 am- 9 pm Monday through Saturday and 7 am to 9 pm on Sunday.

David Rader concluded, ” e want to thank the community for all of their support. We love our customers and enjoy talking with them and getting to know them.”

See you on Feb. 1!
