School Board meeting yields info that 4,420 students were enrolled on the first day of school

BCPS School Board

The Botetourt County School Board held a regular school board meeting on Thursday morning, Aug. 27.

Dr. Jonathan Russ, Superintendent announced on the first day of school 4,420 students were enrolled. Of those, 735 students were remote. By Wednesday that number was 745, making the total 17% of the students are totally remote. He mentioned the number will change and the first snapshot for ADM is Sept. 30

Most of the meeting concerned adjustments to calendar, policy and fees.

The first policy makes a remote location work day on November 3rd due to the expected large turnout for the election.  Many of the schools are used as polls. It passed.

The second covered the pre-meeting closed session for regular school board meetings instead of at the end. The motion passed.

School fee changes were approved.
