Greenfield Education and Training Center will house county offices after renovations

The county will spend almost 900,000 on renovations at GTEC for office space

Updates to Greenfield Education & Training Center (GETC), which is now the county administration center, will cost $896,849. The Board of Supervisors approved a bid for the renovation costs at the April 28 meeting.

The GETC, which already houses county administration and some other offices, will eventually be home to the County Treasurer and the Commissioner of Revenue, too. Both of those offices are now at the Botetourt County Courthouse, which is also slated for a major renovation.

The renovation costs include demolition, removing partitions, creating passageways and new walls, HVAC and electrical changes, and furnishings for the new offices.

The county administration moved into the Greenfield Education & Training Center almost a year ago. Renovations have not gone as planned due to the pandemic and other offices have not yet moved from Fincastle as previously scheduled.

The building will be renamed at a future date.
