Notice:Primaries to be held for US Senate and 6th District House of Rep in June

Official ORDER Calling Primaries in June 2020

Appropriate authorities of the Democratic Party of Virginia (DPVA) and Republican Party of Virginia (RPV) have called for primaries for nominations for Office of U.S. Senate (statewide) and U.S. House of Representatives for the 6th Congressional District.

Candidate filings for these primaries begins at noon on March 9, 2020 and ends at 5:00 p.m. March 26, 2020. The parties have until March 31, 2020 to certify their lists of candidates. If one or fewer candidates have qualified for a particular office, no primary will be held.

PLEASE NOTE: These will be two distinct elections with separate ballots. Voters will be required to indicate which primary they wish to participate in when checking into the precinct. Voters are allowed to vote in only one primary when held on the same day per Code of Virginia §24.2-530.
