The Chick-Fil-A Leader Academy at LBHS sponsors charity Volleyball game on Fri. Dec. 13

Lord Botetourt High School has a new organization Cick-Fil-A Leader Academy. A volleyball tournament that includes the local law enforcement and local firefighters in a charity game for JDRF. 7 p.m. Dec. 13 at LBHS.

Thanks to the generosity of Bob Duffessy at the Bonsack Chick-Fil-A, Lord Botetourt High School’s chapter of the Chick-Fil-A Leader Academy has begun to thrive. Since the kickoff in September, students of the Leader Academy have been working diligently to fulfill their roles as young leaders. With thirty students of varying grade levels representing the Leader Academy, the group has accomplished their “Big Thank You,” a gesture to give back to someone in their life who has invested in them in a “big way,” and they are preparing to tackle their next project.

The Chick-Fil-A Leader Academy is urged to participate in Do Good December, a project that emphasizes teamwork in respect to the holiday season. Lord Botetourt’s group decided they wanted to help an organization that is doing amazing things within their community. The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation’s cause hits home to this group, as many of the members are affected by diabetes within their families, including the facilitator of the group, Jane Reynolds.

The group has worked assiduously to plan a volleyball tournament that includes the local law enforcement and local firefighters, and all of the proceeds will be given to the Roanoke’s Chapter of JDRF. The tournament is scheduled for the 13th of December at 7pm in the Lord Botetourt High School gym; doors will open at 6pm. The Chick-Fil-A Leader Academy is honored to be hosting this event, and they are eager to bring their community together to help such a crucial organization.
