Buchanan Presbyterian welcomes new Pastor

Buchanan Presbyterian got to know its new pastor, Rev. Matthew Aldas, at the church’s worship service August 18. After a long search the committee presented him to the congregation on August 4. He now is the regular pastor, keeping office hours at the church and leading its worship and outreach.

Aldas is 35 years old and married with three young daughters. He has been the associate pastor of youth at Raleigh Court Presbyterian in Roanoke for the past two years.

Originally from Texas, he received a bachelor’s degree in Biblical studies, plus a Master of Divinity from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary. He was ordained in 2017. Buchanan is his first call as the solo pastor of a church.

Various church members have taken Pastor Matthew around to meet town leaders. He also has discovered a coffee place – North Star – and hopes to meet many of you all over a cup of joe as he settles in.

Everyone is invited to Pastor Matthew’s official installation service on Sunday September 14 at 4:00 p.m. at the church. This will include preaching, and a reception following.
