School Superintendent John Busher takes a bow

John Busher served for 4 years as school superintendent for four more years after his first retirement.

John Busher retired, came back as interim Superintendent and then spent four more years as School Superintendent. June 13 was his bow. He is retiring for good at the end of the month.

He was famous for his chair talk on preparing students. He was always supportive of his teaching staff. He improved the school division by a funding push and for making the huge step forward of the new Colonial Elementary School.

He finished his tenure with pleasantries from school board members and even a hug from Scott Swortel of Blue Ridge.

He received his plaque for the hall and a wood project from BTec: A wood cut map of Botetourt County with all of the schools marked and the division mission statement inscribed.

Well done Mr. Busher! An I know, not an I think!
