Sheriff candidate Vineyard weighs in on primary campaign

I want to thank everyone who volunteered in my Sheriff’s campaign.   It has been very humbling to see so many people come together for this very important cause.

This election, from the start, has had it’s challenges.  Many people have tried to turn it into a popularity contest instead of who is most qualified.

I know that with my  experience on the Local, State, and Federal levels of law enforcement, I have the knowledge and expertise to lead the Sheriff’s Office forward.  The good ‘ol boy days of law enforcement will be over.

With growth of our County, we need to choose wisely on who will lead our law enforcement agency.

As your Sheriff, I pledge to bridge the gap between Botetourt County and other law enforcement agencies in the valley.   This has been a chronic problem for many years and with my professional contacts with other law enforcement administrators, this gap will be bridged immediately.

I also pledge to use programs such as CPTED to protect our business community from crime.

I fear that if the right person isn’t chosen to lead the sheriff’s office, our whole community will suffer.

Our schools need to be more secure!  I have introduced a new program which utilizes alert devices worn by school administrators,  teachers, and other school employees.  These devices would be activated by a single touch in the event of an emergency situation.  A signal will be sent directly to the 911 center where emergency responders would immediately be dispatched.  I have visited some of our schools during my campaign and there are severe inadequacies to the antiquated alert systems currently used.

The other candidates are nice men and have served Botetourt well, but they lack  outside experience and the ability to think outside of the box.

On Tuesday June 11th, I urge you to vote for the most  experienced and qualified candidate, Mike Vineyard for Sheriff! Thank you.
