VBR Star travel soccer to hold tryouts

In 2018 The Roanoke Star soccer club changed its name to VBR Star when it partnered with Visit Virginia’s Blue Ridge. Club League soccer is popular in Botetourt as well.

Currently once per week for 6 weeks, VBR Star Soccer Academy for younger players is being held on Tuesday nights at the Sports Complex at Greenfield. Former LBHS soccer players Jamie Corring and Josh Harris are helping coach the Academy as well as Jim Lane, an area coach for years, and VBR Star’s Noah Jefferson leads the effort. VBR Star has expanded from the Roanoke Valley into Botetourt and Franklin as well. There are over 52 Club teams in the VBR Star Club. 25 players who have not reached the age of club soccer are honing their soccer skills at the academy in prep for club soccer tryouts.

VBR Star Botetourt was established in 2009 when it became an exciting part of VBR Star Soccer Club. The clubs aims to provide training for youth soccer players looking for the highest level of competitive play and qualified coaching.

During the fall season, VBR Star Botetourt  competes in the best and most competitive league in Virginia for Premier teams, the Blue Ridge Soccer League. The BRSL will provide competitive and challenging games which will bring the best out of players on a weekly basis.

Currently VBR Star Botetourt has four teams, U11 and U16 Boys, U14 and U19 Girls. In addition VBR Star Botetourt has incorporated a Youth Academy for ages 7-10 The teams train at Greenfield Park. *See below
