LBHS FFA members advance to regions
On March 26, The District FFA tractor driving, tractor troubleshooting and small engines events were held at Lord Botetourt High School. The district includes Alleghany High School, Craig County High School, Lord Botetourt and James River High Schools.
In the Tractor Driving Competition Brian Watts placed 1st. The competition included a written test, practical examination of a tractor for safety violations and the operation of a tractor maneuvering a four wheel wagon through an obstacle course.
Watts also placed 1st in the Small Engine Repair competition in this competition students must complete a written exam, identify tools, look up parts, and diagnose and repair an engine.
Tucker Grimshaw and JP Whorley placed 1st in the Tractor Troubleshooting Team competition. This event consists of a students taking a written test, diagnosing various problems that cause a farm tractor either not to operate or to not operate properly. Once they have made their diagnosis they then have 20 minutes to make the necessary repair to ensure the tractor is operating successfully.
All of these students will move on to their respective regional competitions at the Old Dominion Agriculture Complex in Chatham Virginia on April 3rd.
We would like to thank James River Equipment for sponsoring the event.
