At the YMCA ribbon cutting, the community came together to celebrate a milestone. A good-sized crowd listened to Mark Johnson, President and CEO of the YMCA comment on the spirit of community, the hard work put into fund raising, the generosity of Fralin and Waldron and the Botetourt Board of Supervisors. Perhaps his greatest statement about the new YMCA, “Fifty years from now when children are learning to swim, it will be from this community.”
Then the groups of citizens, shareholders and officials joined together with the Chamber of Commerce and used the giant scissors for the ribbon cutting. A spectacular day in Botetourt County.
