The Eagle has landed!
Anita Firebaugh of Troutville took this photo of an eagle on Etzler Rd last Friday.
In the past 15 years eagle sightings have become a more frequent and exciting event in Botetourt County. In the 1960s, eagles faced extinction due to DDT. But with conservation and the banning of DDT, the population is returning.
With election day this week, our National symbol and bird is a welcome sight!
Firebaugh said, “This majestic bald eagle was seen off Etzler Road near Greenfield on Friday, November 2, 2018.”
