Megan Young is Kiwanis Educator of the Year for 2018

Troutville Elementary School can be proud, once again a Troutville teacher has been named Educator of the Year by the Botetourt Kiwanis Club. Megan Young received her $500 check and a promise of the new award bell which she will keep for the next year from Kiwanis Club president Lyn Hayth.

Young is the media specialist (ie the librarian) at the school. She is integral in core curriculum and maintaining the high standard of education for her school, Hayth noted.

For her part, Young said she was nervous yet excited. She thanked her family, her school principal and other members of the faculty and staff, the administration and the school board. “I am shocked and honored, ” she said.
