They will listen to citizens concerns says the Board of Supervisors

Statement from Botetourt County Board of Supervisors, 3/28/23  2:55pm

During the March 28, 2023, 2 pm Botetourt County Board of Supervisors (BOS) Meeting, the request from TPB Enterprises LLC (Thomas Builders of Virginia) to withdraw their application for a planned 300-unit apartment complex in Daleville was unanimously approved.  The 6 pm public hearing regarding this project has been removed from the agenda. However, the BOS voted and will listen to citizens on the topic during the 6 pm March 28 BOS meeting.

In a statement on Saturday, March 25, 2023, Botetourt County Board of Supervisors Chair, Dr. Mac Scothorn had this to say to the community:

“I along with other Board of Supervisors members, believe it is important to listen to our citizens and their comments as they were unable to speak on this particular topic during the February 28th meeting.  The basis of this was to allow the developer time (at their request) to make changes that they felt would have provided for a better project.

Once the final project was available, the BOS would have had the Public Hearing as is the process for land use topics.  Since the project has been requested to be withdrawn by the Developer and the Board has unanimously accepted the withdrawal there will not be a public hearing at 6 pm. The BOS would still like to hear from the citizens, and I plan to allow a Public Comment period on the topic at the 6 pm March 28 BOS meeting.

The Public Comment period would not be a Public Hearing since there will be no project to discuss. Please reach out to any of your Board of Supervisors members if you have any questions.  Our doors are always open to listening to our constituents, friends, and neighbors.”
