New signs define lines for Botetourt/Roanoke counties

From Botetourt Supervisors Agenda

Botetourt and Roanoke Counties have joined together to install two wayfinding signs, one on Lee Highway (US 11) and the other on Cloverdale Road (Alt. US 220). The signs would be located at the county line on each road.

In a Memorandum of Understanding approved in the consent agenda at the February 28, 2023 Board of Supervisors meeting at the Botetourt County Administration Center in Amsterdam, the two parties agree to share the cost of purchase, installation, maintenance, mutually agreed upon repairs, or replacement of the signs.

Each sign will cost no more than $33,000. The county received a $50,000 grant from Virginia’s Blue Ridge Foundation to pay for part of the cost, though the county had to make a $25,000 match. The funding is in the current budget.

A staff memorandum in the supervisors’ packet indicates a third sign may be purchased and installed if funding allows.

There was no indication of a time frame for installation in the packet information.
