PSA from RCAHD about Covid 19 vaccine for 12-15 year olds

Q: Now that 12-15 year olds are eligible to be vaccinated, are there any special considerations for these ages to receive a vaccine?

A: The good news is clinical trials showed that the vaccine is extremely effective for this age group. Being able to vaccinate this younger population is a critical step in continuing to lessen the immense public health burden caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Guidelines have recently changed to allow people in this age group to receive the COVID-19 vaccine at the same time as receiving other vaccines, which means that teens could be vaccinated at their annual well-child visits to the pediatrician. We have also been working with all of the school systems in the district to offer vaccinations for those over age 12 before the end of the school year, so we hope that all in this age group will have the opportunity to be vaccinated very soon.
