Welding Class offered at DSLCC register now

Introductory Welding Course Begins January 9 at DSLCC
               An introductory course in shielded metal arc welding (SMAW/stick-welding) has been scheduled for the spring 2020 semester through the Dabney S. Lancaster Community College Workforce Solutions and Community Education division, on the DSLCC main campus in Clifton Forge.

The class will meet  on Thursdays from 8:00 am to 12:50 pm in Warren Hall, beginning January 9. DSLCC Welding Program Head Mike Bryant is the instructor.

Students will cover topics in welding electricity, types of  power sources, welding polarities, and electrodes for use in joining various metal alloys by the SMAW process. Instruction includes cladding, butt, and fillet welds in all positions to test for the AWS SMAW 3G qualification.

The course also includes OSHA-10 training, all instructional materials, and AWS qualification testing. All participants are required to attend safety training.
