LBHS state semi final football, “The hotter the fire, the tougher the steel,”–Coach Jamie Harless
Thunder foot Trio of Steel
At one point Hunter Rice blocked two lineman so Salvi could scamper around his end. Here he gains yardage on his own
A glorious bright and sunny day for a state semi final game on Dec. 7. The Cavaliers in the 1970s-80s cheer, “Get fired up,” and the Cavaliers sure were. The placekicker Baker passed for two point conversion after a muffled play and Arnholt lept to catch it. Rice and Salvi were burning up the field on offense and defense, Stephens blocked a punt in the first quarter and everyone else from the players, to the band, the cheerleaders, to the fans did their part.
Fired up. As the minutes ticked away, the fans cheered, the band played and the fire burned. Victory over defending state champs Heritage. At the end, in the victory talk, Coach Harless said these words to the team:
“The hotter the fire, the tougher the steel.”
