2nd Amendment Sanctuary Resolution on tap at Board of Supervisors meeting
The BOS meets at 2 p.m. Nov. 26 at the Greenfield Center and the most anticipated item is the 2nd Amendment Sanctuary County Resolution. A group of concerned and vocal citizens are urging the Board of Supervisors to adopt a stronger message than the the one the Board has proposed.
After the Democrats took control of the General Assembly during the November election, Gov. Ralph Northram, also a Democrat, announced the new leadership would propose new, stricter gun control laws. A number of counties have already passed a 2nd Amendment Sanctuary County resolution.
Of course, the 2nd amendment to the US Constitution guarentees the right to bear arms.
Kevin Spencer, retired law enforcement and one of the organizers, said, “We need to stand strong with our sister counties that have passed a 2nd Amendment Sanctuary County status.” He is not in favor of a weak resolution that he has seen in draft form from the BOS.
Those of like mind are encouraged to write their Supervisors as well as attend the Tuesday meeting.
Former Amsterdam Supervisor Todd Dodson has encouraged the stronger stand through a Facebook post. Dodson is a retired Army Colonel Special Ops and Iraq War Veteran.

Unfortunately I won’t be able to attend because I have made previous plans. I URGE the board to make this county a gun sanctuary county.
