VDOT Road Watch has new updates for Botetourt

Here are recent road updates for Botetourt County

(NEW 10-4-19) * I-81 PAVING OPERATIONS BOTETOURT COUNTY – Paving operations will be taking place on I-81 southbound beginning at mile marker 168.9 to 171.5. All traffic will be maintained through work zones with construction signs, message boards, arrow boards and TMA. The work will be performed at night from 9:00 pm to 6:00 am.

(NEW 10-4-19) * I-81 BOTETOURT COUNTY LATEX SEAL OPERATIONS  Paving operations will be taking place on I-81 southbound beginning at mile marker 151.4 to 16.3. The work will be performed at night from 9:00 pm to 6:00 am with alternating lane closures.

(UPDATED 10-4-19) * ROUTE 220 PAVING Lane closures will be in place for paving and milling operations on approximately 3.5 miles of Route 220 northbound in two sections from the intersection of International Parkway to Country Club Road and from Shavers Farm Road to Muse Road. Work will continue to be performed 24 hours a day the week of October 6, Sunday through Friday with the potential of Saturday, with milling during the day and paving at night. Once complete, pavement marking will be scheduled. Motorists should use caution and watch for flaggers.  Estimated completion is October 2019.

(UPDATED 10-4-19) * ROUTE 685 – BRIDGE REPAIRS OVER CRAIG CREEK – Work is underway to repair the bridge on Route 685 over Craig Creek. This is located near the intersection of Route 615. Temporary lane closures may be in place with flaggers controlling traffic at various times.

(NEW 9-23-19) * ROUTE 603 ROAD CLOSURE – Route 603, Zimmerman Road, in Botetourt County, will be closed to through traffic for a rural rustic project beginning Monday, September 30. The 0.4 mile rural rustic project will be performed on Route 603, Zimmerman Road, from West Road to Pebble Road, Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. The work will consist of cross and driveway pipe replacements to improve drainage, slope and shoulder work and placing a hard surface on the roadway. Due to the narrow, steep and curvy work zone area, the road is expected to be closed to through traffic for approximately six to eight weeks. Residents in the area will have access to their homes, but should expect delays. Signs will alert drivers of the closure. Weather permitting, the drainage and slope work on the project is expected to be completed in late November 2019, and surface treatment on the road will be performed in spring 2020.

Road work continues on US 220 North of Eagle Rock with numerous traffic stops and goes. Add time in to your travel scehdule. Observe safe driving for others and road workers.
