Photography classes through DSLCC in Buena Vista this Fall
Photography Courses Slated at DSLCC Rockbridge Center This Fall
Dabney S. Lancaster Community College has scheduled four non-credit photography courses this fall semester at the DSLCC Rockbridge Regional Center in Buena Vista with professional photographer Chuck Almarez as the instructor. All classes will meet on Thursday evenings from 6:00 to 9:00 pm in Room 912.
The first course is Nuts and Bolts of Digital Photography, which will meet for four sessions, September 5 – 26. This course will cover basic photography from the perspective of a digital camera. Participants will learn how the camera works, how to capture a better image and how to share images online. The tuition fee is $90.
Adobe Lightroom Orientation, October 3, is a free one-night workshop. Students will learn why they should be using Lightroom and how it fits into the image editing workflow.
Intro to Adobe Lightroom will meet for four sessions from October 10 – 31. Lightroom is an organizational tool with significant editing and output capabilities. Students will learn how to import, organize, rate and tag images, and then output them in a variety of ways: print, slideshow, books, and web galleries. The tuition fee for the course is $180.
Students are asked to bring their own
cameras to class, as well as a laptop, already loaded with the Adobe Lightroom

Finally, “Long Exposure Photography and Painting with Light” is two
sessions, November 7 and 14. Participants will learn to create
great photos in less than ideal lighting conditions, such as nighttime shooting,
“painting” a scene with light, and capturing scenes that cannot be seen with
the naked eye. This course requires a basic understanding of Photoshop. The
tuition fee is $109.
